Dar es Salaam/Tansania – Mumbai/Indien
Von nun an also erst mal allein weiter. Einige mails gab es. „Was ist los mit Maik?“ „Gibt er auf?“ Einige Worte, wie die Sache für mich steht, ohne dass ich Maik erklären möchte. Ganz kurz gesagt, widmet er sich neuen Zielen. Er gibt nicht auf, sondern die Reise ist für ihn in Dar es Salaam erfolgreich beendet. Immerhin sind wir losgefahren, weit gekommen, haben viel erlebt, gesehen, gelernt. Es ist nicht so, dass er nicht jeden Tag intensiv genossen hätte, und wir haben uns nicht zerstritten. Maik hat sich alles reiflich überlegt und ist überzeugt, dass es für ihn die richtige Entscheidung bleiben wird. Alles Bestens also. Weiterfahren hätte keinen Sinn, denn wir machen das alles nur für uns selbst.
Ich kann (und muss) das sehr gut akzeptieren. Außerdem war immer klar, dass auf so einer Reise viel passieren kann. Die Idee, mit der wir gestartet sind, ist eben nur eine Idee, und das haben wir immer betont.
An meinen Motiven der Reise hat sich dadurch nichts geändert. Für mich ist dieses Projekt noch nicht beendet. Die alleinige Fortsetzung wird nicht leichter, schafft aber auch neue Eindrücke und Möglichkeiten.

It’s May and it’s Maik, here back home in Germany, with some notes about the last 2 weeks from Nairobi to the coast of the Indian Ocean. But first of all some news from Tom. He has got his Visa for India (after some trouble) yesterday afternoon and should sit in an airplane to Addis Abeba right now, passing the peak of the Kilimandjaro. Denise is waiting for him already in Bombay, where he will arrive tomorrow early morning. So it was Thursday the 29th, when we got our Kenyan entry stamps in our passports, had our first Kenyan lunch and cycled the first 60 km out of 520 km on this dirt road called „Trans East African Highway“. We met a couple from Berlin this afternoon, stopping with their 4×4 car on the other side. They were on their way home after a trip around Africa. We had a nice chat. They recommended to stop at Henry’s place in Marsabit, still about 200km away. He is a nice man from Switzerland, who lives already many years there and also offers a place to stay for travelers.
